Getting back and forth from the airport can be attained by various means. You may take a taxi or limo. It is as well to pre book limousines before you arrive and this can be achieved easily by going online. Taxis are readily available outside the arrivals area and the journey into the city takes around 45 - 60 minutes.
You can catch a commuter S-bahn train on either the S1 or S8 lines to several stations in the city such as Hauptbahnhof, Laim and Ostbanhof. There are now some modifications to the schedule because of the building of a new tunnel. If you S-bahn service has stopped, there is a supplementary bus no S8 which continues on until the last arrival. There is a Lufthansa Airport Bus which goes to Hauptbahnhof and of course from there you can get connections to any part of Munich and also to any city in Germany. For the more important Exhibitions in Munich the organisers will run a shuttle bus to the Exhibition Center Munchen Messe.
