Travel Guide

At anytime of the year, Munich’s weather is a mixed bag of sorts. You’ll have rain, sunshine and snow in the winter, lots of snow and it can be cold so it’s best to prepare for it but enjoy the startlingly pretty scenery when everywhere is carpeted in snow. In summer the weather can be quite warm with occasional dull cloudy days.
What should you take when travelling to Munich? The best advice is to prepare for anything at all times of the year. Pack clothing that you can wear in the warm or cold and bring along a jacket.

A Munich Welcome card is available for either 1 2 or 3 days. It is also available for 1 adult or get a Partner Ticket. This allows up to five adults use the ticket together (or two children is equal to one of the adults). It gives you free transport within the city and also reductions at very many sights and attractions plus in restaurants etc. You also have to decide if you want the Cards to cover the inner city only or all parts of Munich. A three day Partner Card (for up to 5 adults) costs about €50 and what could be better value than that, if five of you are travelling together.

The currency is the euro and exchange can be made in any bank, and also in your hotel lobby. If using currency exchange kiosks and shops, do check the exchange rate but also the level of commission charged.

Munich Germany is in the GMT + 1 hour time zone. This means that it is one hour ahead of GMT in winter and two hours ahead in Summer.
